To make things simple, the goal of Cognitive Infiltration is to infiltrate online groups and websites with false or conflicting information in order to Divide, Distract, and Discredit us all.
WHAT IS COGNITIVE INFILTRATION?
“Cognitive infiltration is a term coined by Cass Sunstein and Adrian Vermeule to refer to the use of government and third party “cognitive” provocateurs and front groups to “infiltrate” social networks, other online groups, and “real life” groups built around conspiracy theories. They use the term mostly in reference to the 9/11 conspiracist subculture.”
“Conspiracy Theories” and government infiltration
“Government agents (and their allies) might enter chat rooms, online social networks, or even real-space groups and attempt to undermine percolating conspiracy theories by raising doubts about their factual premises, causal logic or implications for political action.”

DAVID RAY GRIFFIN
Cognitive Infiltration: An Obama Appointee’s Plan to Undermine the 9/11 Conspiracy Theory
“In the United States today, the phrase `conspiracy theory’ functions as a sort of giant cudgel, used to scare us out of talking openly about a broad (and ever-growing) range of scandals that the powerful cannot afford to let the people comprehend. In this new book, David Ray Griffin takes devastating aim at that repressive tactic, exposing it for what it really is. All those who cherish democracy, and intellectual freedom, owe it to themselves to read this brave analysis—and owe its author their sincerest thanks.” — Mark Crispin Miller, Professor of Culture and Communication, New York University
“In a lengthy academic paper, President Obama’s regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein, argued the U.S. government should ban “conspiracy theorizing.”
Cass R. Sunstein
Harvard Law School

“Many millions of people hold conspiracy theories; they believe that powerful people have worked together in order to withhold the truth about some important practice or some terrible event. A recent example is the belief, widespread in some parts of the world, that the attacks of 9/11 were carried out not by Al Qaeda, but by Israel or the United States. Those who subscribe to conspiracy theories may create serious risks, including risks of violence, and the existence of such theories raises significant challenges for policy and law.”

In this video, Luke confronts Cass Sunstein and asks him about this literature and Cass can’t recall ever writing it.
How Covert Agents Infiltrate the Internet to Manipulate, Deceive, and Destroy Reputations
“One of the many pressing stories that remains to be told from the Snowden archive is how western intelligence agencies are attempting to manipulate and control online discourse with extreme tactics of deception and reputation-destruction. It’s time to tell a chunk of that story, complete with the relevant documents.”
Obama staffer wants ‘cognitive infiltration’ of 9/11 conspiracy groups
“In a 2008 academic paper, President Barack Obama’s appointee to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs advocated “cognitive infiltration” of groups that advocate “conspiracy theories” like the ones surrounding 9/11.
Cass Sunstein, a Harvard law professor, co-wrote an academic article entitled “Conspiracy Theories: Causes and Cures,” in which he argued that the government should stealthily infiltrate groups that pose alternative theories on historical events via “chat rooms, online social networks, or even real-space groups and attempt to undermine” those groups.”
Obama confidant’s spine-chilling proposal
“Cass Sunstein has long been one of Barack Obama’s closest confidants. Often mentioned as a likely Obama nominee to the Supreme Court, Sunstein is currently Obama’s head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs where, among other things, he is responsible for “overseeing policies relating to privacy, information quality, and statistical programs.” In 2008, while at Harvard Law School, Sunstein co-wrote a truly pernicious paper proposing that the U.S. Government employ teams of covert agents and pseudo-”independent” advocates to “cognitively infiltrate” online groups and websites — as well as other activist groups — which advocate views that Sunstein deems “false conspiracy theories” about the Government. This would be designed to increase citizens’ faith in government officials and undermine the credibility of conspiracists. The paper’s abstract can be read, and the full paper downloaded, here.”

Good Riddance To Obama’s Regulatory Czar
“Sunstein’s academic reputation as a skeptic of over-regulation and an advocate of cost-benefit analysis had lent credence to the promises of President Obama and his minions to limit and rationalize regulation, but instead of reining in the Administration’s excesses, Sunstein collaborated in helping dozens of agencies heap crippling new rules on the U.S. economy.”

The Plots to Destroy America
“If you have social networks of people who are talking with one another, you can have a conspiracy theory spread in a hurry,’’ says Cass Sunstein, a professor at Harvard Law School who wrote the book Conspiracy Theories and Other Dangerous Ideas. “It literally is as if it was contagious.”
Dear Cass Sunstein: PLEASE cognitively infiltrate me! (Kevin Barrett)
“He is called “the most evil, dangerous man in America” and Barack Obama’s “invisible hand.” Conservatives and progressives alike distrusted his project to use government power to shape human behaviour in ways that people may not even notice. He endured a tumultuous Senate confirmation, battled conspiracy theories and even fended off death threats in his job as the director of OIRA—the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs—an obscure-sounding but powerful office that has the final say on government rules about everything from air pollution to product safety.”
Powerful Shaper of U.S. Rules Quits, With Critics in Wake
“Cass R. Sunstein, who wielded enormous power as the White House overseer of federal regulation, came to Washington to test his theories of human behavior and economic efficiency in the laboratory of the federal government. Now he is departing with a record that left many business interests disappointed and environmental, health and consumer advocates even more unhappy.”
According to Sunstein, 9/11 conspiracy theories are “harmful to society”. His solution?
Government might ban conspiracy theorizing.
Government might impose some kind of tax, financial or otherwise, on those who disseminate such theories.
Government might itself engage in counterspeech, marshaling arguments to discredit conspiracy theories.
Government might formally hire credible private parties to engage in counterspeech.
Government might engage in informal communication with such parties, encouraging them to help.

The Consequences of Conspiracy Theories
May 7, 2013
“The dissemination of conspiracy theories raises important behavioral, institutional, and normative questions. We use a series of original survey experiments to assess whether realistic exposure to a conspiracy claim affects trust in government. In what we call the real world cynicism priming effect, we find that exposure to a conspiracy claim reduces confidence in government at both the federal and local levels.”
“Conversely, when respondents are both exposed to the conspiracy claim and asked whether they believe it, we observe no impact on confidence. We term this relationship the inoculation effect.”
“Inoculation is the placement of something that will grow or reproduce, and is most commonly used in respect of the introduction of a serum, vaccine, or antigenic substance into the body of a human or animal, especially to produce or boost immunity to a specific disease.”
Conspiracy Theories and Other Dangerous Ideas
“Conspiracy Theories and Other Dangerous Ideas is a collection of his most famous, insightful, relevant, and inflammatory pieces. Within these pages you will learn:
• Why perfectly rational people sometimes believe crazy conspiracy theories.”
“Maybe treat the book like a buffet: pick the items that appeal to you. Here, for example, is a very interesting article about conspiracy theories, in which the author examines not just the truth or falsehood of such theories but also their purpose within society and the standards by which we accept or reject them.”

“Wikileaks.org, founded by dissidents in China and other nations, plans to post secret government documents and to protect them from censorship with coded software.”
If We Lose our Internet Freedoms Because of Wikileaks, You Should At Least Know Why
“Cass Sunstein also wrote about Wikileaks in Feb of 2007 prior to their release of the first set of Chinese “leaks”. But Sunstein also wrote about infiltrating dissident groups later in 2008. Sunstein currently heads the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs for Barack Obama.”
Nihilists of The World Unite: Wikileaks Is The “Cognitive Infiltration” Operation Demanded by Cass Sunstein
“Awareness is growing around the world that the Wikileaks-Julian Assange theater of the absurd is radically inauthentic – a psyop.”
The Limited Hangout tactic is a form of propaganda that is used to reduce backlash against an immoral or would-be illegal act (usually considered a cover-up), by making it seem like the perpetrators have come clean about their role, while still keeping important details hidden. By releasing information that was previously secret or not yet acknowledged, backlash is reduced because some people will believe the cover-up has been fully exposed and admitted to.
Cognitive Infiltration is real. The 9/11 perps are getting desperate and can’t debunk or discredit the hard facts and evidence, so they have inserted fake theories into the movement in order to discredit the legit information and keep us fighting and divided within the movement.
